Six separate lodging facilities located throughout the reserve are available for guests of DoubleDrift. Please see the descriptions and pricing below to find the one that suits your needs. See the back for other general information.

Double Drift Lodge

Double Drift Lodge is located deep in the valley just a few minutes walk from the Fish River. During the day one can fish for some barbel, eel, carp and yellowfish. The largest fish caught in this area weighed 17kg. The house was built many years ago by some of the first settlers and one of their forts, which is across the river, is visible from DoubleDrift’s front lawn. Although the house still retains its charm it has been renovated for your comfort.

Mvubu Chalets (X6):

The Mvubu complex boasts breathtaking views of the beautiful Great Fish River. The lodge and each of the six chalets may be rented separately, or the entire complex can be rented. Facilities include a lounge (for the lodge guests) as well as a small pool (for all Mvubu guests). Both of these have decks with spectacular views. While relaxing on one of the decks in the sun and watching a sunset, one will be able to see some of the animals grazing across the river.

Mbabala Lodge

The Mbabala ("bushbuck") Lodge was also once the house of early settlers. Facilities include a fire place, a dining room and sitting room with a TV. Warthogs, bushbucks and bushpigs often frequent the area. This is one of the more popular lodges.

Nottingham Lodge:

Nottingham Lodge is located within the of the Inyathi Game Viewing Area. In the mornings and evenings you might see the mighty rhino, elephants, giraffes, zebras and kudu as well as small game such as bushbuck, impala, grey duiker, grazing in your front yard. Facilities include a fire place, a dining room, a sitting room, a veranda and a boma for outdoor cooking.

Botha’s Post Cabins (x4)

Botha’s Post Cabins wooden cabins are built on stilts just next to the Kat River. They boast beauty and solitude at a very modest price. Guests can enjoy the view and take walks along the banks. Each cabin has a braii stand outside. Wood, of course, is provided.

Naudeshoek:

Naudeshoek lodge is a beautiful old farmhouse that has been fully restored. It was build by the famous Knott family. Naudeshoek has an indescribable charm that must be experienced to understand. Naudeshoek has all the amenities including a fireplace, a sitting room, and a veranda.

Catering: All lodge facilities are self-catering (bring your own food). Cooking facilities and utensils, as well as a chef, are available at each lodge.

At all facilities except for the cabins and the chalets, arrangements for catering can be made. This must be done well in advance. Prices are R25 for Breakfast, R30 for Lunch, and R35 for Dinner.

Communications: Every lodge has staff with two-way radios in close proximity. A phone and a computer with fax capability are located at the Charles Tinley Office.
